Absolutely worthless

Resident Evil 4.5?

Ezt most muszály kiengednem magamból. Aki nem szereti a 'nyavalygós' fanboy irományokat, azt kéretik elnavigálni eme bejegyzéstől.

Resident Evil 5

A Nagy folytatás.

Hogyan fogják a negyedik rész zseniális irányítását továbbfejleszteni/kiegészíteni?

Eljött az E3 napja, láttam a videókat...

Oké, és..? Ennyi volt? Most milyen játék trailerét láttam pontosan? Hol van a HATALMAS újondság amit Jun Takeuchi igért. Hol van a sötétség/világosság szerepének bemutatása? A szőke lány (akinek bemutatását már hónapok óta igérik)? Esetleg a varjú/pingvin maszkos ember, akit nemrég láthattunk egy Famitsu-s szkennben?

...egyedi, csakis RE-re (4-et beleértve) jellemző hangulat?

Amit kaptunk:

Legaláb a korábbi trailerben látható "Megaton Punch"-nak hűlt helye.

Most pedig 'idéznék' egy THIA tagtól, akinek a játékról -és úgy általában a sorozatról- alkotott véleménye inspirálta ezt a bejegyzést:

"I'm sorry, but in my opinion Resident Evil 5... is Capcom taking a giant dump all over the fans of Resident Evil in the days before Resident Evil 4.

I've been playing Resident Evil games since the original one came out on the Playstation in 1996. I LIVED some of those moments over and over again in my mind. Resident Evil was designed to scare you... a LOT. Resident Evil was the definition of the Survival Horror genre, and the very reason many different Survival Horror games even exist today. Resident Evil > Resident Evil 2 > Resident Evil 3 > Resident Evil CV > Resident Evil REmake was the perfect evolution of a series in my eyes. Each game, although not perfect, continuously improve on what the previous game accomplished.

Resident Evil started it all. It's lines were memorably cheesy. Animations were clunky, and story was full of holes and quite thin... but it still scared those that played it for the first time.

Resident Evil 2 took eveything that the first game did right, and then did it all better. Dialog improved. Graphics improved. Story improved. Animations improved. Many consider RE2 to be the best game of the series.

Resident Evil 3 did everything Resident Evil 2 did, and also improved gameplay by adding quick 180 degree turns and the ability to dodge certain attacks (although the dodging system seemed to work only randomly). It also included epilogue files to keep gamers "in the loop" so-to-speak with the happenings of other characters from previous games.

Resident Evil CV took graphics to a 128 bit level (but that's about it =P)

Then there's the REmake of Resident Evil... the perfect evolution of the first game. The REmake was very spooky, it evolved controls with defense weapons and introduced one of the most infamous enemies of all time.. the Crimson Head. The Crimson Head was the perfect evolution of the Zombie. Zombies were slow and were getting kind of redundant, and then a Crimson Head slithers to life and rapidly attacks, catching the player off guard.

Then Resident Evil 4 started popping up. The beta versions were immensly impressive, maintaining that dark and horror-based atmosphere that everyone loved.

And then one day, it all got thrown out the window.

I don't consider Resident Evil 4 to be a bad game. It wasn't. It was fun and entertaining, and provided its own unique moments of gameplay... but I always thought of Resident Evil 4 as just a test. I felt like the creators were getting their feet wet with a radically new gameplay system and different enemies. You could say that the series kind of needed it... I BARELY made it through Resident Evil Zero. The controls that were so radical when they first showed up on the Playstation had really become clunky and burdening, putting many newcomers to the series off quite a bit.

And now there's this SHIT they call Resident Evil 5. If you put Killzone 2, Resistance: Fall of Man, Resident Evil 5 and Fallout 3 all on different screens and took away any characters or HUD systems, would you be able to point out which one is Resident Evil 5?

No.

That's the problem. Resident Evil 5 is another terrible clone of Resident Evil 4. Granted, the game isn't finished yet... but so many animations and sound effects haven't been replaced yet. Online Co-op is a step in the same direction. Not the right direction, not the wrong direction... the same direction... the same direction as every other end-of-the-world type game. They are all online, they are all based in urban settings... they all have various weapons to choose from and in some games they can be unrealistically upgraded... there's just nothing unique.

It's sad really... my most favorite game series of all time has become another generic clone of "insert random war game here".

I don't think I'll bother purchasing Resident Evil 5... hell, I won't even rent it.

Yes, games do evolve with time. That's not the issue I have. I think we can all agree if the control scheme of the old RE games remained this far, Capcom may have a very difficult time profiting on the games released.

The issue I have is that Capcom is not putting anything unique into this game. The director/producers studied Resident Evil 4... and studied sales of the game. They only conceptualized what sells. When the REmake info was being released for the first time back in '01 and RE Zero in '02, everyone was anticipating its release. I (and many others) would ritually check certain websites to see if any new information is released, and when it was, my heart would race with anticipation.

With Resident Evil 5's information release... I don't even flinch. Someone tells me a new trailer is released for Resident Evil 5 and I say "Eh... I'll watch it tonight" instead of rushing over to my computer to watch it as quickly as I could.

It's like the soul of Resident Evil is gone... they're just milking a cash cow at this point to sell as much as they can. The only person that ever really seemed to take risks and evolve the game was Shinji Mikami.

So, yes, games do evolve. But going from Resident Evil 4 to Resident Evil 5 isn't an evolution... it's a lateral transition. Of all the trailers and screenshots released so far, there's nothing in this game that hasn't already been done in half a dozen other games, including Resident Evil 4."
